Caribbean/American Pacific

These two areas have very different sea conditions. Vessels that operate in the long swells of the Pacific have to be of ocean-going design and may not look as pretty as some of the vessels located in the more benign waters of the Caribbean.

The Galapagos Islands, Columbia’s Malpelo and Cocos Island are all examples of destinations that can only be properly accessed by liveaboard.

Vessels operating in the Caribbean area tend not to use pick-up boats. Divers are expected to keep within swimming distance of the main vessel.

In both areas, vessels cater for the discerning American diving public, so standards of accommodation, food and service are often of the very best. It is also possible, however, to get a more basic liveaboard trip for those on a tighter budget.
